- Type: Multi-select
- Default value: Empty, meaning all terms.
- Shown when: The block uses taxonomy-like values.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Limits which terms appear in the block.
- When to use: Use it when a block should show only selected categories, tags, attributes, or custom taxonomy terms.
- Side effects / performance notes: Empty selection means unrestricted display for that taxonomy.
- Related options: Exclude Terms, Restrict Results to Selected.
Include Children
- Public label: Include Children
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: On
- Shown when: The selected taxonomy can have parent and child terms.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Includes child terms when a parent term is selected.
- When to use: Use it when selecting a parent category should also cover its descendants.
- Side effects / performance notes: Parent selections can match more products than shoppers expect if child inclusion is not obvious.
- Related options: Show Hierarchical, Preselect Include Children.
Restrict Results to Selected
- Public label: Restrict Results to Selected
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: Terms List is available.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Uses the selected Terms List as a result scope, not only as a display list.
- When to use: Use it when a block should filter only within a curated subset of the taxonomy.
- Side effects / performance notes: Products outside the selected scope are excluded even if they match other filters.
- Related options: Terms List, page targeting.
Preselect from Page Context
- Public label: Preselect from Page Context
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Select
- Default value: Auto
- Shown when: The block can read the current archive context.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Automatically selects the current taxonomy term when the filter appears on a matching archive page.
- When to use: Use it so a category archive opens with the matching category already selected in the Category block.
- Side effects / performance notes: URL-selected values and manual preselects take priority.
- Related options: Preselect Values (Manual), Hide Current Page Category, Preselect Include Children.
Hide Current Page Category
- Public label: Hide Current Page Category
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: The block appears on a current taxonomy archive.
- Availability: Pro
- What it does: Hides the current archive term from the block.
- When to use: Use it when the current page already represents that category and showing it as a selectable filter would be redundant.
- Side effects / performance notes: Shoppers may not see why results are scoped unless the page heading makes it clear.
- Related options: Preselect from Page Context, Display Only Descendants.
Show Term Images
- Public label: Show Term Images
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: The block can display term images with the current display type.
- Availability: Pro
- What it does: Shows term images beside term names.
- When to use: Use it for visual taxonomies where images improve recognition.
- Side effects / performance notes: Missing or inconsistent images can make the list look uneven.
- Related options: Image display type, Image Source, Category Icon styles.
Alphabetical Index
- Public label: Alphabetical Index
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: The block has a long alphabetically browsable list.
- Availability: Pro
- What it does: Adds an A-Z style index for jumping through terms.
- When to use: Use it for long brand, author, or taxonomy lists sorted by name.
- Side effects / performance notes: It is most useful when Sort By is name-based.
- Related options: Search in Filter, Sort By.
Always Show All Terms
- Public label: Always Show All Terms
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: The block uses terms.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Keeps all terms visible even when some currently have no results.
- When to use: Use it when the complete taxonomy list is more important than hiding impossible choices.
- Side effects / performance notes: It disables empty-value hiding behavior that would otherwise remove zero-result choices.
- Related options: Hide Empty, Hide Empty After Filtering, Adaptive Filtering.
Switch to Menu Mode
- Public label: Switch to Menu Mode
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: Off
- Shown when: The block can behave as taxonomy navigation.
- Availability: Pro
- What it does: Turns the block into a navigation menu where clicking a term opens that term page instead of filtering in place.
- When to use: Use it when the block should act like category navigation rather than a facet.
- Side effects / performance notes: Filtering-specific options such as counts, query logic, multi-select, Select All, and empty-value hiding stop being relevant.
- Related options: Redirect After Selection, hierarchy options.
Preselect Include Children
- Public label: Preselect Include Children
- Location: Filter Editor > Filters / Blocks > Taxonomy Selection
- Type: Toggle
- Default value: On
- Shown when: Hierarchical display is enabled for a parent-child taxonomy.
- Availability: Free
- What it does: Includes child terms when a parent term is preselected.
- When to use: Use it when preselecting a parent should represent the whole branch.
- Side effects / performance notes: Explicit URL-selected children should not be overwritten by this behavior.
- Related options: Preselect Values (Manual), Preselect from Page Context, Expand Selected To Child.
