Filter Editor SEO and URLs Reference

SEO and URL options for params, category slugs, redirects, selected parameters, robots, and sitemaps.

This Reference page covers the SEO tab in the Filter Editor. It is a manual draft for the full option Reference, not a standalone public release of the whole Reference set.

The SEO tab controls URL reading, category slug output, redirect behavior, selected parameter display, and robots/sitemap handling for filtered catalog states.

SEO Preset

SEO Preset

  • Public label: SEO Preset
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > SEO Preset
  • Type: Select
  • Default value: Custom / Safe / Balanced / Aggressive
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Applies a preset group of SEO-related filtering settings.
  • When to use: Use it as a starting point when you want a safer, balanced, or more aggressive SEO configuration without changing every option manually.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Presets can change multiple SEO behaviors, so review the resulting URL, robots, and redirect settings before publishing.
  • Related options: Meta Robots per Filter Type, Show Category Slugs, Disable Following URL.

URL Format

Apply Params From URL

  • Public label: Apply Params From URL
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > URL Format
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: On
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Free
  • What it does: Reads filter parameters from the current URL and applies them when the page loads.
  • When to use: Keep it on when filtered catalog URLs should be shareable, reloadable, or usable from external links.
  • Side effects / performance notes: URL parameters can preselect filters on page load, which may surprise shoppers if links are reused in different contexts.
  • Related options: URL Mode, Disable Context Preselect on Load, Show Category Slugs.

Show Category Slugs

  • Public label: Show Category Slugs
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > URL Format
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: Off
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Uses category slugs in filtered URLs where category values are represented.
  • When to use: Use it when readable category URL fragments are important for SEO or support diagnostics.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Slug-based URLs should be checked for duplicate or changed category slugs.
  • Related options: Apply Params From URL, URL Mode, Category Filter Robots.

Disable Following URL

  • Public label: Disable Following URL
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > URL Format
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: Off
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Prevents filtered URL changes from being followed or applied in the normal way.
  • When to use: Use it when filtered states should not create navigable URL variants.
  • Side effects / performance notes: This can reduce shareability and browser-history behavior for filtered catalog states.
  • Related options: Apply Params From URL, Meta Robots per Filter Type, Exclude Filtered URLs from Sitemap.

Redirect

Redirect After Selection

  • Public label: Redirect After Selection
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Redirect
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: Off
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Redirects shoppers after a filter selection is made.
  • When to use: Use it when a filter choice should take shoppers to a curated landing page or a dedicated catalog URL.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Redirects interrupt normal AJAX filtering and should be tested with browser history and tracking.
  • Related options: Redirect URL, Redirect Only On Click, Activation Type.

Redirect URL

  • Public label: Redirect URL
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Redirect
  • Type: Text
  • Default value: None
  • Shown when: Redirect After Selection is on.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Sets the target URL used by redirect behavior.
  • When to use: Use it to send shoppers to a specific landing page after selecting a filter.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Broken or external URLs can create poor navigation and should be checked before publishing.
  • Related options: Redirect After Selection, Redirect Only On Click, Apply Params From URL.

Redirect Only On Click

  • Public label: Redirect Only On Click
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Redirect
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: Off
  • Shown when: Redirect After Selection is on.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Limits redirects to explicit click actions instead of every selection change.
  • When to use: Use it when auto-update or keyboard interaction should not immediately redirect shoppers.
  • Side effects / performance notes: It can make redirect behavior depend on the activation model and selected control type.
  • Related options: Redirect After Selection, Update Products on Selection, Activation Type.

Selected Parameters

Display Selected Params

  • Public label: Display Selected Params
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Selected Parameters
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: Off
  • Shown when: Always.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Shows the active selected parameters on the storefront.
  • When to use: Use it when shoppers need a visible summary of filtered URL parameters or active selections.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Parameter summaries can duplicate selected chips or clear blocks if those are also enabled.
  • Related options: Params Position, Show Clear in Params, Display Selected On Top.

Params Position

  • Public label: Params Position
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Selected Parameters
  • Type: Radio
  • Default value: Top / Bottom
  • Shown when: Display Selected Params is on.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Chooses where selected parameters appear relative to the filter or product area.
  • When to use: Use Top for immediate visibility or Bottom when the summary should be less prominent.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Top placement can push filter blocks or products lower on small screens.
  • Related options: Display Selected Params, Show Clear in Params, Mobile Layout.

Show Clear in Params

  • Public label: Show Clear in Params
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Selected Parameters
  • Type: Toggle
  • Default value: On
  • Shown when: Display Selected Params is on.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Adds a clear action to the selected-parameter display.
  • When to use: Keep it on when shoppers should be able to remove active URL parameters from the summary area.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Multiple clear controls can feel redundant if the filter already shows a clear-all button.
  • Related options: Clear Text, Show Clear All Button, Clear Block Text.

Clear Text

  • Public label: Clear Text
  • Location: Filter Editor > SEO > Selected Parameters
  • Type: Text
  • Default value: Clear All
  • Shown when: Display Selected Params is on and Show Clear in Params is on.
  • Availability: Pro
  • What it does: Sets the clear-action text in the selected-parameter display.
  • When to use: Match it to the wording used by other clear controls on the page.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Long text can crowd selected parameter chips or summaries.
  • Related options: Show Clear in Params, Clear Button Text, Show Clear Block.

Advanced SEO

Meta Robots per Filter Type

  • What it does: Enables robots directives that vary by filter type.
  • When to use: Use it when category, attribute, or other filtered URLs need different indexing rules.
  • Side effects / performance notes: Robots settings can affect search visibility; coordinate changes with SEO strategy.

Category Filter Robots

  • What it does: Keeps filtered URL variants out of generated sitemap output.
